Our Favorite YouTube Read-Aloud Channels for Kids (Plus My Workaround for Saving Them!)

YouTube Doesn’t Let You Save Playlists for Kids Content… But I Found a Workaround!

If you’ve ever tried to make a playlist of your child’s favorite read-aloud videos, you’ve probably noticed YouTube disables that option for videos marked ā€œMade for Kids.ā€

My workaround? I save all of our favorite read-alouds right here on the blog so I can come back to them (and you can too!). You could also copy the links into a notes app or create a Google Doc of your own library.

Alright—let’s get into our favorite YouTube read-aloud channels!

1. Buddy Son Storytime

  • Great book choices that hold her attention

We play these during snack time, car rides, and even while I’m prepping dinner. Total win.

2. KidTime StoryTime

We’ve used the Vooks app too, but when we want something quick on YouTube, this channel is a nice sample of what they offer.

  • Gentle, soothing narration
  • Well-known and classic books
  • Perfect for quiet time or bedtime routines

This is our go-to when I want to calm the house down a bit. It’s peaceful and still engaging.

5. Storytime with Ryan and Craig

Storytime with Ryan and Craig

Watch here

  • Funny commentary
  • Conversational, unscripted style
  • Great for older toddlers and preschoolers

It’s like a podcast meets a read-aloud, and it makes my daughter laugh every time.

Final Thoughts

Read-aloud videos are such a gift—especially on those days where reading one more story just isn’t in the cards. These channels help me keep reading consistent, even when life gets busy.

They:

  • Expose my child to new books
  • Give me time to tend to the baby or tackle chores
  • Make long car rides so much easier
  • And they’ve even helped build her early reading skills

Need a way to keep track of your child’s favorite read-alouds? Create your own blog post, Google Doc, or Notes list—and bookmark it! It’s the best workaround to YouTube’s playlist restrictions on kid content.

Let me know in the comments—what are your favorite read-aloud channels or books your child loves from YouTube?
